Your Quick Guide to Transitioning to ONCA

The Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) came into force on Oct. 19 2021.

ONCA is the new legislative framework to which all Ontario not-for-profit corporations must comply. Ontario not-for-profits and charities will now be governed by ONCA, rather than part III of the Ontario Corporations Act (OCA).

Existing not-for-profits and charities in Ontario will have three (3) years to comply with the new legislation. To help prepare you and your organization with this transition, we have designed an easy to use step-by-step guide.

We recommend that not-for-profits and charities begin the transition process now since they are already subject to ONCA and there may be significant gaps in their current governing documents.

To date, we have worked with over 100 not-for-profit organizations and charities to support a successful transition to ONCA. We can you help you do the same. Reach out to Marcy Galipeau, Director of Operations and Communications at mgalipeau@pooranlaw.com to get started.
