Bhakti Bansal is an Associate Lawyer at PooranLaw, where she practices in the areas of Labour and Employment law, Human Rights, Education, Disability Law and Litigation.
Bhakti joined PooranLaw as a summer student and returned to complete her articles with the firm before joining as an Associate. Her prior legal experience also includes a law student position at the Human Rights Legal Support Centre, an experience that strengthened her interest in advocacy.
Bhakti earned her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was involved with the Community & Legal Aid Services Program (CLASP), the South Asian Law Students’ Association (SALSA) and the Osgoode’s Women Network (OWN) among other community engagements.
Previously, Bhakti earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts with High Distinction from the University of Toronto, where she specialized in History. Among others, her areas of interest included oral history, and she worked with local and international oral history archives to document and preserve experiences of significant traumatic historical events. This background in oral history continues to inform Bhakti’s approach to advocacy and helps her consider broader legal issues through the experiences of the individuals and communities they affect.
