Abarna Nathan is an Associate Lawyer at PooranLaw, where she practices in the areas of Charity and Not-for-Profit Law, Estates Planning, ODSP & Social Benefits Advocacy, and Disability Law. Abarna has been an avid advocate and proponent for social justice for most of her life. She brings a trauma-informed and compassionate lens to her work.

Abarna was both a Summer Student and an Articling Student at PooranLaw before joining the team as an Associate.

Abarna earned her JD from Osgoode Hall University, graduating within the top 10% of her class. During law school, she spent two semesters working part-time for the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, where she worked with survivors of gender-based violence and assisted them in navigating legal barriers. She also helped incorporate and run a new not-for-profit organization in her final year of law school that was focused on survivor-based solutions to supporting survivors and ending gender-based violence. Throughout her time at law school, Abarna conducted legal research related to gender-based violence, poverty, and human rights. She was also an active member of the school community. Notably, Abarna was a member of Osgoode’s Disability Collective, where she helped to support and advocate for students with disabilities and influence change within the administration. Abarna was fortunate to have served as Co-President of the Disability Collective in her final year of law school. Abarna is proud of her volunteer contributions and legal work spanning her life before, throughout, and after law school.

Outside of the office, Abarna has many hobbies, including powerlifting, reading, and attending concerts and stage productions.
