Elisa Mangina’s practice focuses on the needs of individuals, families, not-for-profits and charities. She has a particular interest in the unique legal issues that confront individuals with disabilities and their families.
Elisa has developed expertise in all aspects of the estate planning process, including the drafting of wills, Powers of Attorney and Henson Trusts. She also has substantial experience in estate administration, particularly where a beneficiary of the estate has a disability.
Elisa has helped numerous clients obtain appointment as a loved one’s legal guardian through a court application. She regularly represents clients who are passing their accounts as guardians, or who seek advice on consent and capacity issues.
In addition, Elisa has successfully represented clients before the Social Benefits Tribunal concerning ODSP matters, and she frequently advises ODSP recipients and trustees of Henson Trusts on their filing and disclosure obligations under the Ontario Disability Support Program Act, 1997.
In the area of charity and not-for-profit law, Elisa has assisted numerous organizations with incorporating, continuing under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act and applying for charitable status with CRA, as well as with issues around taxation, privacy law and governance.
Prior to joining PooranLaw, Elisa was an articling and summer student at the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.
